# Re-engage Cold Leads

> Work the aged part of the CRM at volume — real conversations, honest dispositions written back, and meetings booked with the few who are ready now.

Every CRM carries a long tail of people who once put their hand up and then went quiet. The tail is not worthless; it is unworked, because working it by hand has terrible unit economics and reps sensibly avoid it.

The floor on an untouched list is zero. That is the number this competes against.

## What a pass actually does

## What it sounds like when it works

> **Agent:** Hi Mike — we spoke back in February about your reporting setup. Quick check-in: is reporting still something you're planning to fix?
>
> **Mike:** It is, actually. We got pulled onto something else but it's coming back round.
>
> **Agent:** Good timing then — a fair amount has changed on our side since February. Worth fifteen minutes next week with someone who can show you the parts that are relevant?
>
> **Mike:** Sure. Tuesday afternoon works.
>
> **Agent:** Done, invite is on its way.

Mike moved from "cold" to "booked" without a rep dialling, and the February context was already on the record when the meeting started.

## Running a pass

<Steps>
  <Step title="Choose the list deliberately">
    Closed-lost, aged inbound, no-shows, expired trials. Keep the segments separate — the right opening line is
    different for each and mixing them costs you the read on what worked.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Give the agent something to reference">
    What was discussed, what has changed since, what to avoid raising. A re-engagement call with no reference point
    is just a cold call with a worse list.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Define what counts as a win">
    A booked meeting, a dated callback, or simply an accurate status. Choose before the pass, not after.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Start with a small batch">
    A few hundred records, then read the transcripts. Tune the reference points, then scale the same brief.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Lists worth restarting

| List | Why it is still live |
| --------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Closed-lost | The reason it was lost — price, timing, a missing feature — often expired |
| Expired trials | They had the problem enough to sign up once |
| No-shows | Most never rejected you; they missed a calendar slot |
| Aged inbound | Budget cycles turn over; the person who went quiet may now own one |
| Old event lists | Worthless after a week by email, still workable by phone |

<Warning>
  Aged lists are where consent posture matters most, because the original opt-in is old. Every contact is scrubbed
  against federal, state and internal DNC lists before the dial leaves the platform, calling hours follow the
  contact's own jurisdiction, and the consent record travels with the contact. Have your counsel look at the
  segment before the first pass, not after it.
